To all PWP members and the general public: OK. We know most of you don’t write poetry. In fact, you’ve probably never even thought about writing poetry. Well, we’re giving you a reason to think about it. The Professional Writers of Prescott is asking all its members to write a short poem. We would like you to bring it and read it at the next regular meeting on Wednesday, June 22. Your poem can be about anything. It can rhyme or not. Maybe you would like to put the trials and tribulations into poetry of dealing with family while writing your memoir. It’s possible the space captain in your newest sci-fi novel is ready to wax poetic about the stars while traveling to Betelgeuse. For all you romance writers out there, this is a no-brainer. And to all of you that do write poetry, there is no excuse for you not to shine for your peers that night. All we ask is that you keep it to five minutes. After everyone who wants to read has read, we will hopefully have additional time for you to present more poetry if you bring additional material. The reading order will be determined on a first to sign up/first to read basis. So join us on June 22 at 6 PM at the Prescott Valley Library for PWP’s first Bring a Poem to the Meeting Night. If you want to be on the reading list, please drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and put “Poetry Night” in the subject area. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you then.
PWP general meetings are held at the Prescott Valley Public Library, in the Crystal Room, 6:00pm – 7:45pm.
