Elaine Greensmith Jordan, winner of the Grand Prize of the Southwest Literary Festival, will speak at the Professional Writers of Prescott general meeting on September 28th at 6:00 at the Prescott Valley Library in the Children’s Reading Room on the 2nd floor. The public is invited.
A popular speaker, past president of Professional Writers, and published author, Jordan will outline basic principles for anyone interested in writing fiction, memoir, or poetry—just beginning or already advanced. She will present thoughts on the creative process and an outline of matters to consider in moving toward publication.
Jordan, a Prescott author, is a retired teacher and minister now teaching writing and theater in the Yavapai College Lifelong Learning program. Excerpts from her memoir, Mrs. Ogg played the Harp: Memories of Church and Love in the High Desert, won awards from the San Francisco branch of American PEN Women, Bayou Magazine, and the California Writers Club. Her essays have appeared in South Loop Review, Alligator Juniper, Passages, The Georgetown Review, The American Journal of Nursing and other journals and anthologies.

Member perks for 2016: The following workshops are scheduled for 2016. All are on a Saturday from 10:00am – 2:00pm at the Prescott Valley Public Library. There will be a ½ – 1-hour lunch scheduled and each room has a refrigerator. There are also several places close by to get a sandwich. Each of the following workshops are free to members. We do request that as each workshop nears you register for that particular one (so the presenters know how many handouts, etc. to be prepared for).
