Wednesday, November 16th – Susan DeFreitas The Small Press Publishing Landscape
Author, editor and educator Susan DeFreitas was raised in rural Michigan but traveled extensively, especially in the Caribbean and feels this made her a storyteller. She moved to Prescott and graduated from Prescott College. She says about Arizona, “I fell in love with the Arizona high country – the moods of the land, the seasons, the mountains, the history, the people.”
Her main focus is fiction but also nonfiction and poetry. She will talk about small press publishing. An author, editor, and educator, Susan DeFreitas’s creative work has appeared in The Utne Reader, Story Magazine, Southwestern American Literature, and Weber—The Contemporary West, along with more than twenty other journals and anthologies. She is the author of the novel Hot Season (Harvard Square Editions, 2016) and a contributor at Litreactor.com. She holds an MFA from Pacific University and lives in Portland, Oregon, where she serves as a collaborative editor with Indigo Editing & Publications.
PWP general meetings are held at the Prescott Valley Public Library, in the Crystal Room, 6:00pm – 7:45pm.
